Empathy Picture Experiment
Your ability to empathize may be the single most important way to change your state. Have you ever started your day in a foul mood, and then after a few minutes of talking to a happy person started feeling great? Watching a movie at a movie theatre can do this too. Our ability to empathize with others is a potent tool. Of course, this ability can work against us if we hang around negative people.
I have often dreamed about producing a movie that had as its sole purpose the goal of making people feel happy. The movie could be called “The Happiness Movie” or “The Joy Movie”. The movie would be filled only with images that would elicit feelings of happiness and joy. I believe that the movie would not have to have a story or a plot. The movie could merely be snippets of people enjoying their lives. Of course, a storyline could be helpful, but it may not be necessary.
One could create a series of movies that focused on other positive emotions like “Gratitude: The Movie” or “Laughter: The Movie”.
As an experiment, focus on the images below. Tell me if focusing on these positive pictures changes your state. Use the blog comment form at the end of the article to let me know.
