The Good News: Nothing Can Make You happy!
The good new is that to be happy your life does not have to be any different from the way it is now.
The better news is that you could be happy even if your life was radically different from the way it is now.
If you are not feeling happiness at this moment, right now, it is because you have not made the conscious decision to be happy. That’s all.
Nobody and no thing can make you happy! This is very good news. You do not need anybody; you do not need anything. You make yourself happy every time, no exceptions.
Happiness comes from within, not your external environment.
- Happiness does not come from your state of health
- Happiness does not come from your house
- Happiness does not come from how many children you have
- Happiness does not come from your mate
- Happiness does not come from money
- Happiness does not come from things you buy with money
- Happiness does not come from your job
- Happiness does not come from external things or persons
Happiness comes from your mental actions. It comes from your thoughts, your evaluations of your external environment, your evaluations of your actions, your evaluations of the past and your future possibilities.

You can choose yourself whether you are happy watching the sunset or buying expensive stuff. If you choose to be really happy by watching the rain, is it really that much different, on an emotional level, from receiving a present or buying something expensive? This might feel unnatural, but what is the difference? Dan Gilbert addresses this issue and argues that there is absolutely no difference between so called natural happiness and synthetic happiness. Although it might feel unnatural to create your own happiness, on an emotional level it is as real as any external trigger. Constantly chasing external triggers is like running from yourself. Maybe it is the illusion only natural happiness can truly satisfy us which is causing a great deal of suffering. […]
