Inner Peace and Happiness, The 80-20 Rule
I admit that when I am in a peaceful mood, and the idea occurs to me that I could be happier in the moment, I disregard the idea and continue to enjoy the serenity of my peaceful mood.
I believe that inner peace is a significant component of happiness.
From a time perspective, that is the duration that one experiences these feelings, I think that peace is 80% of happiness. Whereas more energetic expressions of happiness like joy, exultation, gratitude, wonder and humor occupy 20% of happiness.
Your ability to relax is one of your greatest assets in the pursuit of happiness. Inner peace is the foundation that more energetic forms of happiness (e.g., glee, for instance) need for their expression.
