Anticipation and Happiness

Some believe that the pleasure of anticipation is often stronger than the direct pleasure that an event itself creates.

This seems true for other emotions too, like fear and worry. Often the fear of a future event is more frightening than the actual event.

What wonderful things lie in your future? Have you thought about the terrific plans you have to visit with your family or go on vacation?

You might make a point to dwell on your wonderful future more often; perhaps this can be scheduled regularly. Consider thinking about your wonderful future before bedtime.

In fact, anytime you find yourself in a poor mood, you might remind yourself to think about your fantastic future, it might just cheer you up.
