Death is Our Advisor
We can use death as an advisor. Death is a clear lens that allows us to see our daily choices from a different view.
Our lives are precarious. The recognition of our own death encourages us to live life fully.
Imagine that your life is a box. The box has dimensions that are fixed, that is, the box has a fixed length, width and height. The fixed volume of the box is similar to your fixed life span. During our lives we engage in activities, and this is like putting building blocks into your box. Eventually the blocks will fill the box.
Some blocks are viewed as pleasant and good, while other blocks are viewed as unpleasant.
The point of managing your life is,
–to fill the box with good blocks
–to prevent bad blocks from entering the box
–to transform bad blocks into good blocks
–to maximize the size of your box
Our choices about what we allow into our life are important. The number of experiences that you are allowed to have are rationed by Death.
There are a finite number of experiences that you can experience, so it is important that you choose selectively.
