Measuring Happiness

I found this recent article about measuring happiness intriguing. The article suggested a possible way that one could measure happiness, namely by recording:

-The percentage of nutritious food consumed daily
-The regularity of body exercise
-The duration of sleep
-The frequency of smiles

Regarding the outward and external measurement of happiness, I think that this set of criteria is pretty good. The criteria are not bulletproof however because happiness is a feeling, and ultimately a subjective experience. It is certainly possible to fail in one or more of these measures and still be happy.

I do think, however, that there is some value in these measures. This criteria can be used individually as a benchmark, and it can provide an objective number that can provide some insight.
