I have been intently reading Byron Katie’s book “Question Your Thinking, Change The World”, and I honestly believe that it is the most enlightening book that I have ever read. I know, I know. It sounds kitschy, but it is true. I am honestly impressed with the thinking that Katie does in this book.

I have read all four of Katie’s previously published books, and I few I read more than once. And yes, “A Thousand Names For Joy” (her latest book) is the best of the lot. But I am afraid that, if it comes to sheer concentration of insight, this book “Question Your Thinking, Change The World” is better.

Basically, I read a few excerpts EVERY day. And I constantly bug my wife and read out-loud the excerpt. We discuss it together afterwards. And Whoa, I am always just blown away at the insight.

Basically, for Katie, everything you believe is a story — and I mean EVERYTHING. Everything down to the idea that you even EXIST! Ha!

I am challenged every time I read this stuff.

In my opinion Ms. Katie, your words have more insight than even the words of Mohammed, Buddha and Jesus Christ. Yep – tons more insight. Katie is brilliant. Truly brilliant.

Until next time.

I just finished ATNFJ last night. The book was a very good read. I intend to buy the paperback and I hope that eventually there is a book-on-tape released. There is a lot of good information in this book.

Byron Katie is a genius. You just have to love her perspective on life and reality. She clearly is a giant thinker in the self-development world. I have been a reader of self-development books for many years, and I see a trend in better and more interesting books being published lately.

I am going to try out a new idea. I am going to carry 3×5 cards in my wallet so that I can do The Work while I am anywhere in my day, everyday. This experiment should be interesting.

I have been thinking about changing the direction of this blog slightly. I want to change the focus from a public discussion of happiness in general for all to benefit from, to a more personal log of my own search for happiness.

The recent lapse in my posts to this blog seem to be the result of this blog inadvertently getting away from some of my core motivations.

I want to refocus this blog so that it discusses my real-time moment-to-moment thoughts about happiness.

I thought that I would give you, my reader, a heads up.

Oh, and I just started reading a new book:

The last few days I have been on a ski vacation at Bear Mountain Ski Resort in Big Bear, CA, so I have not had the opportunity to post to the blog. I have been reading a new book that I acquired from the library called “A Thousand Names for Joy: A Guide for Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are” by Byron Katie.

The book is helping me focus on the stories that I tell myself, and it is helping me to question those stories. The stories that I tell myself are the source of stress and unhappiness in my life. All of my stories are variations on a theme, “This is the way my life is, and this is the way my life should be – isn’t that terrible?” Byron Katie’s techniques help one to question their beliefs.

For those who have not noticed, I am real fan of Byron Katie. To me her work seems to be fresh and very stimulating. The techniques she has developed seem to provide radical and enlightening perspectives about one’s beliefs. Maybe I will create a series of blog articles analyzing some of the ideas that I find in her most recent book.
